NORTH CAROLINA FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS RED HELMET RIDE

Last year’s goal was a break 100 motorcycles in the processional, and with your help we did it with 116!!!! This year’s goal is 150, are you going to help us this year by being 1 of the 150?...

For those of you not familiar with this ride, each year North Carolina recognizes the loss of Firefighters in downtown Raleigh at the North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Memorial. This is done to commemorate these heroes and their families, we have organized this ride here in the area to show support in numbers to the families who will be standing watching as the parade of pipes and drum bands, fire trucks, and honor guards come through the parade route. The NCFFF Red Helmet Ride starts out at Holly Springs Fire Dept. (700 Flint Point Lane, Holly Springs NC 27540) and rides in formation to the parade route to finish out the parade. I can tell you first hand by witnessing this same function on the National level at Emmitburg, MD the location of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial and the National Fallen Firefighters Red Helmet Ride, what this means to the families and especially to the children of our fallen heroes. After the ride, there is a commemoration ceremony held there at the memorial and a helmet is placed in remembrance of this year’s inductees.

In the words of a brother, “It would be nice if YOU would put one Saturday aside and come help us support these families of fallen brothers and sisters who gave it all. Same as last year for those of you that are coming from out of town and would like to travel on
Friday to be here for the ride early Saturday morning we have reserved rooms at a local Hotel in Apex. That information is as follows:

 Woodspring Suites (same hotel as last year just a different name) at 901 Lufkin Road, Apex North Carolina 27539; you will need to call Charlene and/or Christopher at 919-387-4636 to reserve your rooms at the discounted rates. Again there are only 20 rooms currently reserved at this rate so go ahead and reserve yours today!!!

This year’s schedule of events will be as follows:

May 5th, Candle Light Vigil – 2017 NCFFF Candle Light Vigil will be held at the memorial for the families of the fallen. We have in years past had several bikes to attend and would like to see MORE this year. If you come in town on Friday, or live local, help us out and attend this event as well. We will meet at the hotel listed above around 6 and/or will be arriving at the memorial site around 6:30. After the candle light vigil, we will have a place to meet, greet and eat, close by the hotel.

May 6th, NCFFF Red Helmet Ride – At the starting location, Holly Springs Station 1, Chief Smith of the HSFD has agreed to feed breakfast to all participates there at the station prior to the ride, breakfast will begin at 0700 as well as ride formation, a ride briefing at 0830, formation at 0845, and KSU (Kick Stands Up) promptly at 0900.
