Vandiford - Died of a pulmonary embolism, from a leg wound sustained at the scene of a tobacco shed fire outside Farmville, where he was working as a farmer, and upon discovery of the fire, immediately went into action to turn off the LP gas supplying the burning building. He was initially treated by his wife, and then by a doctor for several months, until he died suddenly at home.
