Wayne R. Mason of the Tri-Beach Fire Department responded to the Tri-Beach Fire Station for a reported structure fire alarm.He was found unresponsive in the driver's seat of the ladder truck at the station with the motor running.He was treated at the fire station and transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.He had open heart surgery and was under doctors care. He was not released to return to the fire department. Wayne died on March 7, 2019.
