Swepsonville Deputy Fire Chief Gerald D. Donley died August 8, 2007. Deputy Chief Donley was a 28 year veteran career and volunteer of the Swepsonville Fire Volunteer Department. Deputy Chief Donley had responded to a fire call during the day and reported for his 24 hour shift the next day. During his shift he responded to several EMS calls. Later during his shift, Deputy Chief Donley went to bed at the station where he was discovered the following morning passed away.
