Firefighter Pennel was also a dispatcher for the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office but was working part time at Central Alexander Fire Station. He and another firefighter were cleaning an apparatus when he collapsed, resuscitation efforts were immediately administered but he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
