In Currituck County, Knotts Island Fire Chief Scott Morrison died while working a brush fire Sunday evening, March 3rd. He was treated on scene by emergency personnel and transported to a medical facility. He died at approximately 17:30 hours. Chief Morrison had been a firefighter since 1984. RE: Notification of Firefighter Death
It is with deepest regret that we send notification of the death of Fire Chief Scott Andrew Morrison age 44 Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Department. Chief Morrison died Sunday March 3rd, 2013 at 1722 hours. He had been engaged with the mitigation of a brush and woods fire.
Presently memorial service arrangements are pending. These arrangements will be forthcoming shortly. We do however anticipate the memorial service to take place this upcoming weekend March 9th or 10th, 2013.
Chief Morrison is survived by his wife Jessica Marie Morrison, daughter Kaitlyn, and son Sean. A memorial fund to honor the service of Chief Morrison has been established for the family. Anyone may contribute by contacting any Wells Fargo Bank location and designate contribution to the:

Currituck Co, N.C. – The fire chief of the Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Dept. died Sunday, March 3 after going into respiratory and cardiac arrest while battling a fire.
According to Randall Edwards, public information officer for Currituck Co., Chief Scott Morrison was treated at the scene by Currituck EMS and en route to a hospital in Virginia. They were not able to revive him, and Morrison was pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m., according to Edwards.
Morrison had been fighting a brush fire located in the 500 block of Knotts Island Road, near Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge, along with other volunteer firefighters shortly after 3 p.m.
Officials say the cause of death is undetermined at this time. An autopsy has been ordered.
Chief Morrison is survived by his wife, Jessica, and two children – one son and one daughter.

Knotts Island, NC – Chief Scott Andrew Morrison, 44, of Knotts Island, NC passed away on March 3rd, 2013.
Born in Teaneck, NJ, Scott was the Fire Chief for Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Tidewater Fire Photography Association.
Chief Morrison is survived by his wife, Jessica Marie Morrison, a daughter, Kaitlyn, and a son, Sean, all of Knotts Island. He is also survived by his sister, Eileen Parkman of Jordan, NJ, two brothers, Joseph P. Morrison, Jr. of Orlando, FL and Michael J. Morrison of Cresskill, NJ, his mother, Gwen D. Morrison of Toms River, NJ and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph P. Morrison, Sr.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, 524 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322, 757-547-9511, Saturday March 9th from 7-9pm. A memorial service will be conducted at 2pm on Sunday March 10th. Location of the service will be Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Department, 327 Knotts Island Road, Knotts Island, NC 27950.
