Firefighter Andrew Johnson Memorial Fund Donates $6500 to NCFFF

The Andrew Johnson Memorial Fund recently held its First Annual 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run in honor of Firefighter Andrew Johnson.  Andrew “AJ” Johnson tragically lost his life in an automobile accident on December 4, 2008. He was a dedicated firefighter for the City of Raleigh Fire Department and also volunteered as a Captain for the Archer Lodge Fire Department.

Andrew was an inspiration to all those who knew him. Andrew was passionate about training and the fire department, he volunteered his time to help others become better firefighters. As a result of his passion for public service this 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run was held to raise awareness and funds for those organizations that Andrew supported and valued.

The organizations that will be benefiting from this event will be the following charities this year (2009); North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation, the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center and the Archer Lodge Volunteer Fire Department Training Fund.

The North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation wishes to thank Melissa Johnson and all Firefighter Johnson’s friends and family who so graciously supported this event to honor “AJ” and to continue to support the Fire Service of North Carolina.
