From FireNews.netBLADEN COUNTY – David Jerome Hunsinger Jr., of the Tar Heel Volunteer Fire Department (Bladen County Station 57) was killed Thursday, April 7th, 2011 in a motor vehicle accident (POV) while responding to a woods fire.
Firefighter Hunsinger’s father is the Chief of the Tar Heel Fire Department.
Firefighter Hunsinger was married and has children.

ARRANGEMENT ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Visitation is set for Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 18:00 to 22:00 hours at Tar Heel Fire Station, 269 Tar Heel Ferry Road, Tar Heel, North Carolina.
Funeral will be held Sunday, April 10 at 14:00 hours, also at the Tar Heel Fire Station.
Departments wishing to bring apparatus for the procession are requested to stage at the Tar Heel Rescue Squad building, located at 14871 Hwy 87, Tar Heel. Units should report to staging by 12:30 hours.

A Tar Heel volunteer firefighter was killed Thursday when he was involved in a traffic accident while en route to a fire call.
David Hunsinger Jr., 23, who is the son of Tar Heel Volunteer Fire Department Chief David Hunsinger Sr., was pronounced dead at the scene, which was at the intersection of River Road and Burney Road between White Oak and Tar Heel, on Thursday evening.
In an e-mail to media outlets, Bladen County Fire Marshal Bradley Kinlaw said: ““Firefighters from around the county and state were on hand at Bladen County Hospital to pay their respects as their brother firefighter was brought into the facility.”
Hunsinger Jr. was pronounced dead by Bladen County Coroner Hubert Kinlaw at 6 p.m., just 17 minutes after the call came in on the wreck.
According to Kinlaw, Hunsinger’s car was T-boned by another vehicle at the intersection.
Hunsinger was transported to the hospital on a Tar Heel fire truck.
