Firefighter Joshua Warren – Lincoln County

LINCOLN COUNTY, NC – We regret to inform you that on Thursday, June 16, 2016, Firefighter Joshua Warren died while on duty at Alexis Fire Department. At approximately 11:00 am firefighter Warren was exercising at East Lincoln Middle School when he experienced a medical emergency. Emergency responders responded to the scene and upon their arrival life saving measures were initiated on Firefighter Warren. He was transported to CHS-Lincoln Medical Center via Lincoln County EMS for further treatment. After a short time in the emergency department Firefighter Warren succumb to his injury.

Joshua Warren was 34 years old and an active Member of East Lincoln Fire Department since 2013. In addition, he worked part-time as a firefighter for both the Alexis Fire Department and Lucia-Riverbend Fire Department. Firefighter Warren was a pivotal part of the departments in which he served.

Arrangements are as follows:

Procession

There will be a formal firefighter processional held on Monday, June 20, 2016 beginning at 4:00 pm. The procession will travel south on North NC Highway 16 Business from the Good Samaritan Funeral Home to Waterside Crossing Blvd. From there, Firefighter Warrens body will be taken through East Lincoln’s Fire Station and then return back to Westport Baptist Church for the visitation and funeral. A map of the processional route will be sent out for reference on Monday, June 20, 2016.

Visitation

The visitation will be held at Westport Baptist Church on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. There will not be any media access granted during this visitation per the family’s request. A media staging area will be established in the area of the church at a location that will be announced on Monday, June 20, 2016. Absolutely no photographs of the visitation or the inside of the facility will be allowed per the family’s request.

Funeral and Internment

The funeral will be held at Westport Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 beginning at 11:00am. The burial will follow in the church owned graveyard attached to the church property. Both the funeral and burial will be closed to the media per the family’s request. There will not be any photographs authorized during the funeral or burial services. There will be a media staging area set up in area of the church at a location that will
be announced on Monday, June 20, 2016.

PROCESSIONAL INFORMATION

The arrangements for Firefighter Joshua Warren has been released and part of those arrangements is a formal fire service processional. The summary of the processional is as follows:

There will be a formal firefighter processional held on Monday, June 20, 2016 beginning at 4:00 pm. The procession will travel south on North NC Highway 16 Business from the Good Samaritan Funeral Home to Waterside Crossing Blvd. From there, Firefighter Warrens body will be taken through East Lincoln’s Fire Station and then return back to Westport Baptist Church for the visitation and funeral.

This procession is open to area wide fire departments / emergency services agencies that wish to participate. Please see below for participant specific guidelines:

The line up staging area will be located at Denver Baptist Church – West Campus in Denver, NC. All participating agencies must be in the staging area and ready for the processional briefing at 3:00pm. A map link for the staging area is:

• When the procession gets to East Lincoln’s fire station there will be a staging area for non-ELFD apparatus while Firefighter Warren’s body is driven through their apparatus bay.
• There will be an established radio channel for the procession. If participating agencies have access to a NC-VIPER radio please bring it. If you do not, that is ok because detailed instructions for the procession will be given out at the briefing held at 3:00 pm.
• There will be a processional group leader assigned to this event. That person will have charge of the line-up order.

All participating agencies please keep in mind that the one and only objective for this event is to honor Firefighter Warren and his family. Please be mindful of this objective and represent your agency in the utmost fashion.
