Catawba County, NC – On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, Sherrills Ford-Terrell Fire-Rescue and Newton Fire Department Captain Bradley Long’s body will be escorted back to Bennett Funeral Home in Conover, NC from Wake Forest – Baptist Medical Center. All agencies and media outlets please remember that the parameters of this plan are based upon Captain Long’s family wishes. The details of this processional plan are as follows:
Staging area for agencies traveling to Winston-Salem to retrieve Captain Long’s body will be at Tri-City Baptist Church in Conover, NC at 8:00am. The address of this church is 1409 N. NC Highway 16, Conover, NC  28613
  • Apparatus and vehicles pull out and go to Winston-Salem at 8:30am
  • Apparatus and vehicles arriving in Winston-Salem will stage at the BB&T Ballpark located at 951 Ball Park Way, Winston-Salem, NC  27101.
  •  The procession will begin back to Conover and the order of vehicles will be:
    • North Carolina State Highway Patrol Unit
    • Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputy
    • Catawba County EMS unit
    • Newton Fire Department Unit
    • Sherrills Ford-Terrell Fire-Rescue
    • Long Family Members
    • Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputy
  • Departments and apparatus that wish to show their respects during this processional are asked to set up on bridges over the processional route. If any apparatus wishes to join in the processional for a short distance may do so by falling in behind the last Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputy’s vehicle.
  • Communications for this processional will be conducted on NC VIPER Events Channel Foxtrot-2
This is a closed processional effort that is reserved for marked emergency vehicles only. Media may set up in either staging area or along the processional route only. The route of the procession will be I-40 West to Exit 132 in Conover. The procession will end at the Tri-City Baptist Church.
